Cctv Over Cloud

Hey Guys

Has anyone installed CCTV (home or business) and linked it up to cloud rather than going through a DVR, which will enable the customer to view there property via cloud on their mobile device such as an iPhone/iPad or other mobile devices, not forgetting home PC.

Also for those in the UK, which 1-12 camera dome set-up with good night vision (at least 600tvl) night vision 25 metres can you recommend? I'm trying to buy wholesale to sell on. We have Qvis dome cameras around our home which seem fine just wondered if anything is out on the market and if you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Darran

You dont need to record to a cloud to view remotely, the only real advantage to recording remotely for the customer is that they still have recordings if the recorder is stolen/destroyed. There are more advantages for the installer the main one is control. The biggest disadvantage of recording to a cloud is the reliance on third party ISP provider's and BT ect. Recording locally and cloud is safest

It is not very true but is it not in a sense

Alarm activate - remote station gets an image and takes over viewing and records what they are seeing on there servers and emails that video over to us (all via the customers internet)

Neither of those situations is cloud computing. It's remote access to a DVR. The customer is doing his own hosting.

Yes the customer stores the images too but our station also records what they are seeing and emails it to us so is that not storing to the cloud in a sense.

Just to clarify the station does not remote onto our customers DVR at any point to pull of images

That situation is called monitoring which still isn't cloud computing. When the DVR is being hosted in the arc and the cameras record only to that device via a WAN of which the customer then requires to login to that hosted system to see images is that cloud computing.

There are varios ways. Our platform offers pure cloud, ie no dvr at all onsite, edge recording (local short term recording in camera) and hybrid. Depends on the application which one is appropriate.
