MrHappy
Oh dear seems no pro installers can answer the original question I would assume it was false alarming & the clicking was the piezo not vibrating correctly ? or hold off voltage too low & the product was unstable And yes its re badged scantronic r running on scantronic p.i.rs along with the label change there is a software change which prevents the scantronic devices working on the system & some terminals missing off the board (IIRC) Its outdated tat, Mr Veritas God
sixwheeledbeast
Its outdated tatExactly. The fault could be any number of things but it's not worth repairing.
norman
I disagree, if the op is happy with it then a simple, inexpensive fault would be worth repairing. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

norman
Why was recommending an upgrade not a constructive answer? Poor diagnosis imo, could be a simple fix. If you read the OP it's apparently been tested and all working at the moment. Still doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend an upgrade.
al-yeti
just to add my 2p diy worth of advice , yes put it in skip even i wouldnt touch em, but in case of the fault suggestion above sounds right , hold of voltage to low or not there, you went out came back, bell used up the internal battery , but then again i went for a repair once where the customer panicked couldnt remember the code, so opened the panel (one of those weird MDT panels mini) disconnected battery removed the mains and back up battery and waited till the bell switched off and was left with a click click click..... wheres the skip!
