GrahamUK33
I have got the Texecom Premier 48 with a Battery Fault. This has happened since we had a short power-cut one evening. I have logged into engineer mode and looked at the status of the battery. The battery has 13.6v and is fully charged. I have done a walk test to make sure all the PIR’s and Door Contacts work. What I have displaying on the LCD Keypad is ‘System Alerts!’ and ‘Battery Fault’, how can I stop these messages from appearing? Lwillis
What's the actual current , current of the battery? If its below a certain threshold that's what's causing the issue. Had it once with a new battery from the van with it being cold. Left it charging for a hour or so while doing Maint and was all okayafter that. james.wilson
The only way to stop them is to fix the issue. How old is the battery, when was it last serviced etc. You can't test a battery on voltage alone Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. Oxo
Did you test the current draw? Have you a battery tester. Chances are the battery is over 4 yrs and has lost its holding capcity.

alterEGO
Maybe not. The prem has a bit of a bug, go into 'Monitor Hardware' and turn off Battery monitoring and exit engineer, it should now be clear of the fault. Now enter engineer and turn battery monitoring back on. Should work.

alterEGO
Won't work if the battery is fecked tho.No of course, but I assume the OP is not brain dead. This has happened to me more than once after swapping a battery after a long mains fail. Tech know about the issue. GrahamUK33
Thanks for all the replies guys, it very much appreciated. I’m not sure what the actual current of the battery is, but what I can see is in the Wintex software it shows:- System Voltage: 13.73v- Battery Voltage: 13.73v- System Voltage: 0.285a -> 0.351a (it is constantly moving up and down) I’m not sure what the Current draw is, does the above Voltage mean anything? I don’t have a battery tester either. The Battery is around 4 years old now, how long do they last for? I have found ‘Monitor Hardware’ via the keypad, it reads ‘PAFBALB’ I cant seem to do anything. I have looked in the Wintex software for the ‘Monitor Hardware’, but can’t find it. What I have found is ‘Online Status and Control’ in there is a section called ‘System’, which shows a Red Light against Battery Fault. It would be good to try turning the monitor off and then back on to see if it clears the error, how can this be done via the Wintex software? james.wilson
4 yrs old it may be shot. Without a tester it will be difficult, but use your dvm and pull the mains from the panel and monitor the voltage at 10 minute intervals for an hor or so. That will tell you if its duff. Plus your charge current seems high for a fully charged battery again maaking me suspect its failing Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. alterEGO
As James, new battery at that age. If that does not clear the fault then you can try the monitor hardware, think its a local setting, not sure its in a wintex menu.
sixwheeledbeast
No of course, but I assume the OP is not brain dead. Not brain dead, but I was assuming the OP has no idea tho. I wouldn't check a battery with the built-in voltage readings. You are correct about the "Monitor Hardware Shuffle", had to do this a couple of times. GrahamUK33
Thanks for your help and advice guys, I have now ordered a new battery. I will let you know the outcome once the battery has been installed. Quote Graham twitter: ithorizon1 http://www.ithorizon.co.uk
GrahamUK33
I have fitted the new battery yesterday, logged in via Wintex and it looks like everything is back to normal. No more Alerts on the screen either. Thanks for all your help and advice guys. Quote Graham twitter: ithorizon1 http://www.ithorizon.co.uk
ARJ
Ive got a fault on a Premier 24. I put a new battery in 3 months ago after a battery fault and the customer has called me back as its appeared again. Investigation shows that the battery is only holding 7v but then checking the charging voltage its only 6.7v. I have 13.2 v on the Aux and bell outputs but the battery leads are only pumping 6.7v down them. Keypad diagnosis confirms this when reading system status. Without any adjustable pot on the PCB or blown fuse, how can I adjust the charging voltage back to 12v ?? Quote A nearly retired previous installer ! james.wilson
did it have a knackered battery in the past? ARJ
did it have a knackered battery in the past? Yes, i think the previous battery whilst fairly new got totally drained in a long duration power cut. james.wilson
its usual that a poorly serviced system kills its charger circuit. ARJ
New install in 2011, had 3 batteries since but think it had a long outage around 2013. Last fitted a batt in March, another one today. I'll verify with Tex Tech support tomorrow as customer is a neighbour so a bit awkward to quote £100 for a new PCB even though outage wasnt my fault ! Thanks for the quick responses. charlie6
Might be worth checking the battery charging current, nominally 500mA or thereabouts. Also a current limiting resistor gone high value, look for burn marks around resistors in that area.

charlie6
In thirty or more years my current readings have been in that region, not always, but more often than not. The reason for mentioning this is to ensure that the reading for the OP is not abnormally low.
