Sql Server Issues

Microsoft office accounting is failing to do a back-up as of 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Then sometimes would not open at all.

Do a system restore, MOA opens, but still no back-up, then sometimes wont open again.

Another restore, same as above happening.

System restore wont restore to any more dates, ive tried 4 restores this evening, its not having any of it.

Tried to send books to accountants as well today, MOA just shuts down.

The main error message i get when trying to open MOA is -

'login failed for user...ADI......Reason:Server is in single user mode. Only one administrator can connect at this time.'

Then for the first time, i had this error message earlier -

'Office accounting has detected that another program is currently connected to your company file. Close any other programs that use your company file before continuing./

As far as i know, nothing should be, but is.

I asked a 'computer repair' bloke this morning, he reckons its a update thats caused it, nothing else, im not to sure.

I also had a virus the other week, cant remember what it was called, the first one ive had in about 10 years, i think it may have been down to this.

I think the server that MOA uses is sqlserver2005, might be express.

cheers for any help,

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

Do a repair on the db as sa. Assuming you have sa password?

I think sql was downloaded as part of MOA, i think MOA said to download sql, as far as i remember - it was in 2009, lol

Cant remember anything about passwords.

Ive tried looking at doing a repair of sql 2005, but think it said i needed a disc or something, but as far as i know, i dont have one.

Would this be something a proper computer repair shop would be able to sort??

Thanks

No disc required for SQL Express.

You should be able to open up your DB from within Express.

Perhaps a recent update corrupted Express??

Your average pc shop MAY be able to sort it, but i wouldn't trust them. They're just as likely to fck it up completely and they'll then just wash their hands of it.

Have you tried task manager and closing down any instances of SQL and then opening MOA?

Sometimes you have to persevere with SQL Being secure, it can also be pretty unforgiving with the slightest problem.

And for anyone running the Express version of SQL Server, whatever the release.

Get yourself a copy of this on your machine

A real life saver

Not needed on full SQL Server as back up and restore is built in.
