Ftp Cable Termination

Hiya!

I am considering using FTP (screened) cat 5 cable for an upcoming project but am concerned about terminating it correctly

I can terminate regular UTP cable no problem but imagine that FTP will be trickier as the foil will need to be grounded to maximise its advantage

Is it normal to ground one end or both?

Are different plugs available to enable grounding of the foil? I have asked in various places but can only source the "normal" ends which will not enable grounding

Thanks in advance :D

you need a different plug that has a metal can. This is what you connect to the drain wire. Also your patchpanel and or switches etc all need to be comaptible,

Any idea where I can source these items?

Do the different plugs with the metal cans require different termination tools compared to regular UTP termination?

Thanks for the pointers!

You can use the same crimp tool, just add the screen to your normal cables.

you will be able to get em from wherever you get your utp stuff from

Is it normal to ground one end? or both?

I imagine grounding one end would be sufficent to screen each cable and grounding both could potentially introduce additional problems?
