Does any one have a BT Tone Generator Manual?

It's the yellow standard issue BT one takes six AA batteries, two black test leads, on/off rocker switch and tone frequency dial on the top Know the one?

You wont find any manual for that. They are over 20 years old. Be very careful when using that particular tone on live circuits that have DSL services as you could blow the ADSL card in the exchange.

They are very simple to operate like you say basic on/off toggle switch and a variable knob for tone, this is basically if you have more than one tone generator on a cable. It enables you to differentiate from one pr to another.

most tone generators work the same, if your looking for a pair put the Tx across it and trace at other end with probe, loudest signal is the one you want.

if looking for a lost cable behind a false ceiling or in a wall, put one Tx probe on the cable inners and the other to a good earth. waft the probe about when nearby should hear the warble.

best tracer imo is the Fluke digital, cheapest i found was from (RS believe it or not) the dearer model which i bought also has cable mapping, so has the cat5e socket in the back, making it really Ace for quick connecting onto an existing un-market/broken network cable for tracing using a patch lead.
