no more spiders inside the pir...i am talking about getting rid of the buggers altogether....although it would stop the yeah must have been a spider crawling over the front of the pir excuse for a false alarm

How did cats pee come into it??????????????

Thanks for the replies,

Think I'll have a look at the optex and the prestige QD. Either that or find an old women who smells of cat P**s and mothballs!!

If shes that old prehaps its not cats p**s she smells of...prehaps its her own

Or Prestige compacts, smaller for domestic and well reliable.

Hi

Happy new year to you all. a bit late i know!

Just wondered what pir is prefered by you all for installs prone to false alarms from spiders. (domestic installs where spiders have been found crawling over pir lens. admittedly old response pir fitted previously!)

Also, how do you all rate the texecom prestige range of pir's. have bought a few quads and a dt to try but not had the time yet

cheers

Dom

what ever detector you go for here are a few pointers:

It must detect an intruder

firm case so that it won't distort when its mounted in a wonky corner

big lens so that a spider on the front of the lens won't Cross too many zones

Seal all holes ie screw and cable with rs non corrosive silicon sealant

on board filtering ie pulse count or whatever they decide to call it but do remember the first point above

if all else fails use pyronix tmd 15 in tri mode they are good but big and ugly

Have to agree here, tri-mode is a very useful weapon to have in the installers armoury.

me again, same question......

My client is obsessed with the whole idea of spiders causing false alarms

He apparantly has 2 to 3 f/a's a week. I put it down to **** response pir's, poor positioning and a system which looks like stevie wonder and ray charles fitted it. (not one of mine by the way)

anyway, to settle his concerns.........Is there any way of preventing spiders that (apparantly) crawl across the exterior lens of a pir causing an alarm condition.

He has been scanning the net and keeps mentioning optex sequads and crow pir's, but the models mentioned are for confirmed detection (i.e. two detectors with different coverage in one enclosure). I have never had problems with this before, so am putting it down to his current install.

hey ho, customers..........

Thanks for reading

Dom
