Have a look to see if your router has a built in firewall. If so try turning it off as long as you have a firewall enabled on your PC.

I can't think of any other router related possible cause.

dont turn off your firewall. i would expect your running nat and that you have a proxy set for https as above

But everything worked ok before the router change.

What is NAT anyway

All my IE settings are ok, no changes.

CMD reads:

connection specific DNS suffix : BELKIN

IP Address : 192.168.2.2

subnet : 255.255.255.0

gateway : 192.168.2.1

mmm im stumped then. You have a proxy somewhere that is forcing an old connection to load. Have you removed all the software relate do your usb thingy

James

All he has done has replaced his modem/router, it was working fine before.

This suggests to me that the problem is with the Router settings??

192.168.2.1 and have a look in the menu. Something in there is stopping you from viewing https sites.

Either that or their is a conflict between router and browser, might be possible but I have not heard of it.

Was using a USB broadband thingy.

Remove it (the old USB modem) totally from your network connections.

If (as is likely) it's configured as a modem it may be confusing things even though it's not actually plugged in any more.

And check the LAN settings in IE connections, make sure it's automatic and NO proxy.

just goes to show how wrong i can be... damn!!

lol

There is a moral to this story, it goes like this.......

Once upon a time there was an access control engineer.

he was called to a fault . The door wouldn't open. The engineer checked the access codes and user access and all was in order.

Ummm strange. The engineer then forced a download to the controller and the door still wouldn't accept a valid card. He checked the timezones and this was OK as well.

The clever engineer then took all the controller to pieces and was in the process of changing the board when in walked the supervisor.

What's up asked the supervisor?

I have tried everything, the card is in the database, it has the correct access level and it is assigned to the right door and it is in the right timezone.

BUT... says the supervisor. Wasn' t the 31st a bank holiday last year!

This is a true story and the moral of the story is always check the obvious first.

cheers

Dave
