  6. enforcer They are a favorite amongst installers, i think that one guy has a particular hatred for honeywell for whatever reason. There has been no detail as to why he dont like it, for all we know it could be he doesnt like the grey colour of the panel.
  7. as above the G2 232 module wont work on a classic, you need a 232 module for that panel, and then yes you could use gal gold. Also you do need V4.xx+ for sms on the main panel, plus a new comms mod.
  8. securitech were made in redditch. Later became c&k securitech. Made fire panels until the mid 90's id say in redditch uk. Then got swallowed up c&k and production stopped, then bought by honeywell. Unless someone has an old one then id suggest its bin time. But to be fair 4 zone basic conventional fire panels are less than
  9. never heard of it. A picture would help if its a rebadge
  10. yep agreed at least you have learnt something useful
  11. maton I agree ie i dont think he expected this but i feel the points are valid and hopefully he has learned that he may need to protect himself more than he currently does. I to agree that he seems happy to offer what he does and is open and honest about it. And i too wish him luck
  12. fastalarms I think the general view here is to try and offer general opinion for you. I do feel that telling your customers to say you have no alarm when the do is not a good way to go. But if they dont get asked the question then it doesnt really matter. I accept that you are offering a useful service to customers that cannot afford a full approved system etc and i am sure you operate with the best intentions. But IF one of your clients after a break in and subsequent claim were to mention the fact that you had said not to tell the insurance company xyz, you would be in very hot water. By all means you can say that your alarm is not insurance approved etc but i really wouldnt advise them to say they dont have one. Be very careful with your insurance cover you actually have, when (and i do mean when) a customer of yours get burgled and their is any investigation from the insurance company they may not then pay out. (i did say MAY NOT there not wont). Your client will then need a means to recover their losses say 30k. You will be next in line if your system or advise was the reason for not paying out. I am not staying stop using the yale im glad you find it an excellent system but be very wary of any advise you give and ensure your paper work is spot on to cover yourself. But i would say in all honesty if the equipment you fit was so great then a lot more of us would be using it. Take what you want from that statement. Also im sure that if your clients were aware of all this IF and BUT they may want something else. James
  13. Fastalarms Just for clarity from our point of view a NACOSS NSI Gold certificated audible alarm (wired or wireless) would be around
  14. as im sure you will see the bulk of the pros onthis board (including myself) will strongly disagree that that type of system is a good one, IMO it gives a false sense of security. There is much more to that unit being made complaint with 50131 than the things you suggest and i dont think the hardware is caperble of being compliant. as you have said the powermax is a fine product and is well priced. The std bell is a fully wireless bell on the powermax not a powered one but a powered one is available. If you were to install one and see what a real product is like i doubt you would still recommend it. While im sure they do have a market I find it difficult to see how you can say how great they are when it is all you install. If i installed telephone systems and only used wet string and yoghurt pots then id think that was the way to go (cheap you see and better than nowt) but as hod no experience of a telephone i couldnt compare. My biggest concern is that some of these systems seem to use the bellbox as the panel. ie outside totally unprotected etc. But im glad you like them and hope one never fails to perform and you get held accountable. James
  15. i think the issue isnt the fact the work well enough in a diy environment im sure they do. But for little or no more there are far far supiriour systems available. All id say is why by a product designed to be easy as oppossed to one that designed to do a set job as its main objective. DO yourself a favour and look at the decent pro systems you can buy and still install yourself if you want. James
  16. unconfirmed means just that. Single activation if on sequential, no audio info or video info is av confirmed
  17. if you are a newbie member (<15 posts) then you cant use profiles or pm's
  18. as fastcar says i dont thin it has part set groups, but either way you will need an install manual and the install code.
  19. programming of part set groups is an installer function, you wont find it in the user manual. But im not sure if the xl supported part sets. The xm didnt
  20. i must remeber this one when the diy at home falls of the wall?!?!?! dont suppose you fitted the tiles? Great excuse though lol
  21. You will need to find your self a local specialist. Plenty on here.
  22. Yep i did a take over on one of these, its amazing how much space there was, put the new panel in there!
  23. i think that if we all went back to our 1st 10 installs we would be amazed we are still at it now!!!. Plus you will remeber how proud of them you were. I remember my first install like it was yesterday and thought it was awesome. Now im technical manager i would make the engineer in question re do it lol
  24. My first panel was an omega 3 (castle petite back in about 91)
