  1. Yep, most are generic but as you mentioned you do have to watch out. Also lo co/hi co can throw the odd curve ball.
  2. And here's me thinking a diode helps protect against reverse polarity.
  3. Flawed argument. You walk into a shop and ask for advice, the assistant has a motive for helping you, no help = no potentil sale. In your scenario, how are we helping iun the decline of the security industry? We tell every tom, dick snd hsrry how to do it what reason do they then have for our services? So, somewhat polar opposite to your scenario. And, like others have said, too many variables to provide a simple answer. You could of course pop into 'that shop' and get all the advice you need, then you can pay the nice man when you buy his products.
  4. How do you know you're competent if you have no idea of what components are needed, and by definition, how they work. I'm good with hammer and chisel. But it doesn't make me a stone mason.
  5. But like most of them, would **** themselves if the national call to arms went out and they had to fight a proper battle.
  6. If one in circuit.Comment from the op earlier suggested he didn't expect a supply to be protected.
  7. Not like conduit. If it sways it ain't noticeable on cameras.
  8. The poles can come with complete kits, including girder mounts. But unistrut and girder clamps always saves the day.
  9. Girder fixings are bog standard, as are the bottom ends. Have a look in most supermarkets and you'll see them. You'll need girder clamps and unistrut. You'll probably need to get plates made up for the 360s
  10. Not quite Adi. What I have done is question Matt, usually, when he has a pop at them even though he doesn't use the stuff.Clearly, some seem to have problems, but by the same token, there are those that don't have a problem. Funny how some companies are castigated for a problem whilst others seem to be allowed them. Like I say, and as you know, I don't major on intruder, but based on the info on this forum with regards to product reliability, there is another popular brand I'd never use - not that they'll worry or lose any sleep over the fact
  11. Me?Never had a problem with it, but then I don't major on intruder. Its Honeywell I can't abide
  12. Like I said, more reliable than BT.
  13. But when the BSIA consider it OK to mislead...
