  1. How are "We" part of the problem? Coz our company makes little or no profit on a lock install and coz we want homes to be safe? Or are we making you guys look expensive?
  2. There enough not for profit safety and security guys out there who replace them at low cost. Our company install a new lock for fiver!
  3. Reason I said this is due I went to a insurance job and the insurance company was not going to pay out on the claim as they never had 'Insurance Approved Locks' which was the new 3 star locks. and this insurance company was one of the big under writers.
  4. No its been the same way we been snapping them for years but now they got new euro locks which have a bar through it.
  5. There your link. I do carry them in my van all the time, I show them old locks I removed and when I remove them I always Snap them to show them how easy it was!
  6. Bumping a lock is too much effort! I just snap them like already said Just see this youtube clip http://youtu.be/88m_Hk5ipI8 I would now always advise every customer to get new euro 3 star locks!
  7. No I can get into your house in about 10seconds without needing to break any window or even find a open window or door! OH also your insurance company may not pay out! The current locks a lot of homes have can be broken in about 10seconds and I done it before! If you view it as a business point if you go and show them all the home weaknesses and tell them how they can improve 99% that person feel more comfortable with you as you given them some FREE advice!
  8. Yea like I can image you make a good wee extra money earner. Its been known for ourselves to go out and re do locks, External Lights, We also set sensors up so it switches random lights on in the house which to be honest would just make you jump and think Oh there somebody walking about + Alarm, Fences, Hedge cutting and etc. Recently we been fitting FakeTV which is really good and setting up on timers and etc
  9. Hello, I know many of you are Security Engineers who fit Alarms and CCTV and etc. Have anybody ever looked at other Safety Defences? Reason I ask this is due my grandparents got a local alarm company and he did not pick up on Locks, Outside Lights, gates, smoke detectors but just that they never had Alarm and quoted for alarm system.
  10. System is as good as it has been installed! Plus you got to remember that the system needs to meet the customer needs!
  11. Oft that is well before my time!!!! I know most do have part set however just giving options. I go out and quote for alarm and quote for locks to bring up to standard and leave home owner of things to do for DiY!!!
  12. That looks really good, I would possible not bother with PIR on top landing which then allow when everyone asleep for you to set alarm. As there been a increase in burglars while people asleep and got in via unlocked door or broken a window. (Lock all doors at Night!!!) The used to always say Honeywell Galaxy system is the best however last few I installed they been small problems relating to the board which in my view is standards are slipping. I have been installing more Visonic Systems and the PowerMax is a great kit or even the Yale SmartPhone or SmartHome is a good system by look at Spec as the Yale SmartHome system is a Grade 2 system. I properly get slagged for saying Yale System however the SmartHome is a grade 2 and is as good as the Galaxy, Visonic and Texecom Wireless Systems.
  13. In Glasgow we have a lot of properties like yours which are Concrete Pre-Fabs. Few points Check when drilling into concrete for any asbestos and etc however I sure your Home Report will shown that. We tend to run the cables with the rest of trades of electrical set up or I would tact then along corners and would advise home owner to paint over cable. I would also be tempted to advise you with a Wireless Set-up as there are some good Wireless systems there now too. You could even do Hybrid of House being Wired and Out buildings being wireless.
  14. Why did you not walk to that customer and just hand them your business card?
  15. Gosh that is dam dangerous, I was at a site few weeks ago and the Fire Officer actual Shut place down. The company employed Polish and etc to pick and pack uniforms and we had to go in and Install a Fire System, Fire Fighting Equipment and Fire Doors. They had Extension Cable Running everywhere. I noticed Scottish Power had put a Tag on meter as looked like they tried to by-pass meter at one stage. To be honest I never put my hand into a unknown void and we have same sort of item but it called String!
  16. Obv connecting it onto Shower works okay! Customer actully did wonder why when she switched shower on the Alarm go off!
  17. Hello, Well had to go to a customer property to remove Texecom Veritas system. Various reasons customer want alarm removed but thats a other story. This system is hardwired in as normal. Went about to Set system into Light only mode, simple Remove Bell Box, Simple Went to Panel removed battery, Simple Went to remove fuse spur, It was not fused in! Looked about to try find mains cable, This is put inside wall and was actully connected to the Bathroom Extractor spur! Have anybody ever come across this or a weird way to wire in alarm.
  18. The only way to fix that is to get Openreach out to fix it and it may cost him a small fortune. He could get a Local Phone Engineer out to look at it as many of them are ex-Openreach Lads.
  19. Image the Interflora women arriving, I here to fit your alarm. 'Where do you want it slap onto'
