It's probably the original battery that's baking your power supply making it really hot. There may well be a voltage in the battery but chances are it's holding little to no Ah capacity. If it's that old it's probably broken or breaking down and pulling the life out of the power supply, hungry for the charge... but can't as it's goosed.

Ha, how did you know it is under the stairs? :D All dying together because of the Paragon, has anyone ever come across a panel which has caught fire?

Well, last time we had a power cut, it lasted for the full two hours. 4 PIRs, and an SAB.

Ha, I've seen those MTA Systems videos on YouTube, funny.I didn't realise the Paragon was such a hated panel.

From the photo I can even tell you that standing on the street looking from the front of your home you live in the right hand house of two 1960's semi's, used to shop in Sainsbury's and are due a rewire in 8 years

Hmmmm, you were close. But the house is 30s. Yes, probably due a re-wire, and no, Morrisons, always ;)
