What is the most suitable security camera system for my needs?

Hey,

What is the most suitable security camera system for my needs?

I'm in the UK.

Within 8 years I have had four known break-in attempts, one of which was successful. I live in a ground floor flat with a front door, a back door & 3 large windows in the living room, kitchen & bedroom.

I wish to: monitor each window & door.
See who is at the door.
Be notified on my phone when activity is detected
I want the system to be low-maintenance.
I live 10 metres from an A road.
The distance from my door & window to the gate at the front is 2 metres.
The distance from my door & window to the gate at the back is 3-4 metres.

IP cameras?
CCTV cameras?

Thanks

In order I'd look at physical security (supplimentary locks to doors and windows), then an alarm, CCTV rarely deters it just means you can watch the covered faces whilst they ransack your home.

Yep, I'd sort that security and alarm first. Otherwise you'll merely be looking at your phone every ten seconds when the bushes move and cause an alert, or reviewing the footage 8 hours later when the perps are long back home and musing what lovely head coverings they are wearing and, yes, they really did smash that window hard and take the TV.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

£300 would unlikely get you something reliable and professionally installed, personally I'd sort the alarm and then maybe look at something like the Nest cam.

£300 is my initial budget. Thanks

Get a big dog, theyre cheap from rescue centres. Nest will let you see them breaking in, assuming that you get the notification on your phone, and as Steve says if their faces are covered it wont be much help.  There is nothing security wise that I would recommend with a £300 budget.

Problem with the dog is they are easy to bypass, take too much feeding and exercising and poo everywhere.

c£300 may get you a budget systems from a local company, Google a local, reputable company ideally someone who is either SSAIB or NSI someone like:
