How Easy To Change A Wired Alarm System?

Recommended Posts

Evening,

I'm due to complete on a new build property next week, as part of the spec I've ordered and paid for alarm pre-wiring which has all been installed.

However having completed the pre-occupation inspection today the site electrician has since my last visit mistakenly installed an alarm system!

It's a basic system and doesn't have some of the features I was looking for such as support for prox tags and an auto dialler so I'm going to have to rip it out.

Is this likely to be a fairly easy job or am I going to find everything will have wiring terminals in different places and cause me a problem connecting everything up?

I'd make them take it out and reimburse you for the hassle they have caused.

You might find the detectors and contacts they have fitted are okay and you could just change the main controls.

I'd be looking for some finically compensation from them tho. What's the specs of the one he had installed?

I take it you have never bought a property before with the new regs in situ.

So what if there is a system in there.

It IS THERE AND CAN BE USED.................CAN IT NOT?

If you wish to change it...........................go ahead.

Blimey, a free working alarm and you are complaining.

Oxo lay off him . I think it's more the fact it was done without his sayso rather than its already in so use it.

OP-

Which system were you going to install?

What's already in ?

Who's the house builder?

All I am saying is there is a working system.

He can change it to what ever he likes.

Even the cables have been proven as/if this works now.

What did the building plans say?

Perhaps one was to be fitted.

Or as you mentioned.

I take it you have signed to say you wanted a 1st fix only?

Maybe he did not.
