Hi Everyone,
I'm not really a novice or DIY'er, i'm an engineer who used to work for Protec on Fire & Security.
Over the last 10 years or so i have specialised just on the Fire side and so i'm a bit out of it on the security side.
So, my question, i have just moved into a new house and its pre wired for an alarm. I previously installed a Menvier TS790 in my old home and it served me well for a lot of years. I wanted to use another Menvier in the new house and was going to get a M800 until i saw a few bad reports on them.
What would you guys recommend for a new panel with the same kind of spec as a TS790?
My needs:-
LCD text keypads, 2 possibly 3.
Minimum 6 zones, with some expansion.
Simple part set operation, i.e Set A, Set B, etc.
Also what do you all recomend as a reasonable middle of the road PIR?
Many thanks for any help offered, oh and Merry Christmas.

Texecom premier would suit your needs, or fit a Galaxy if you plan on working on intruder as it's the main stream for a lot of big players.
Never wrestle with a pig, you both get covered in sh1t and the pig enjoys it!

Detection wise you can't really go far wrong with Optex, Texecom and Honeywell

If your used to Meniver, the Texecom control equipment will be easiest.
Better with a P48 tho.
Detection wise prefer Optex IMO

Gents,
Thanks for the input. Its funny you recomend the Texecom, i had done a little research and they seemed to get good reviews.
Out of interest, what reasons drive you towards the premier as opposed to the veritas?

Gardtec's probably the best low-mid end panel for wireless. Have fitted pallets of the things and our failure rate is pretty low. Back end support from Risco is top notch too.

Thanks for all your help guys, i have settled on the Texecom Premier 24 after your recomendations.
As for the PIR, i was thinking of using the Texecom Prestige Compact IR and wanted to know any views you may have on these.
I chose them first for the name, following recomendations, but then the size of the compact make's it very un-obtrusive. Is there any down side to the unit?

Flol, we fit the 96 on the bells only domestics, they are fine for what they are, but a Premier is much better panel.
