Hi Guys,
Yes its me back again.

I had a problem sorting out the wiring for my bell & strobe when replacing my old paragon plus with a veritas 8.( Previous post.)

To save you reading through the whole topic ( but you are welcome to if you wish) I have copied & pasted the relevant details here.


THE QUESTION IS THIS.....................................

Wiring the SAB
On the paragon plus I have 6 wires coming from the sab

green to stb -
yellow to stb + (assuming strobe pos & Neg)

Blue to bt ( Assuming tamper return)

Red to b +
Black to b - ( Assuming sounder pos & Neg)

SAB connections on Veritas 8 have only 5 ports I have 6 wires ?

Connection port on Veritas 8 is as follows.

A. permanent + supply
B switched Neg to activate sounder
C Neg tamper return
D permanent neg supply (ov)
S switched neg to activate strobe

Can someone please tell me the correct set up.

Hi,

Veritas 8 Paragon plus

A=Perm pos Red B+
B=Bell neg (trigger) White BA
C=Tamper return Blue BT
D=Negative supply Black B-
S=Strobe negative Green STB-

You will require a link from A to the core that went to STB+ on the Paragon (yellow), this provides the positive to the strobe.

I cannot find a reference to BB in the Paragon installer guide, I can only assume that it is BA!.

I have wired it up as above putting the yellow in with the red on core A Perm pos,

The whole system works fine and all tests Ie walk test , internal sounder ,bells ,strobe all ok.
The problem I have is that on full set (it does not happen on part set) when I set the panel go through hall pir which is set as inhibited entry zone and exit front door which is set as an e/e zone. system all sets ok but strobe is flashing
I have tried setting hall pir to an E/E zone to see if this makes a difference but it is still happening.

If it was happening on full & part set I would have assumed that I had wired strobe up incorrectly but this has me baffled ,

Any help would be appreciated.

Just to confirm, does the strobe flash for say 10 seconds then stop? Some panels do this intentionally to let you know the system is full set

Strobe on set feature, it will stop after 10 seconds of flashing.
If you wish to switch it off it's covered in the Misc. Options part of the Installation Manual.

Ah ! haven't checked if it stops after 10 will check and get back to you .

Yes that was it !
I have now programmed it not to flash on full set as I did not want people to get used to seeing it flashing and maybe accepting it as normal.

As long as you can hear the exit tone, that is fine. There could be no worse feeling than a set fail followed by a burglary :s
