HI

I have installed a Texecom 24 Premier panel with an Odyssey Bell Box which has sat and done it's job with no problems for the last three years, today the bell went off with no strobe despite there being no alarm condition showing on the RKP or internal sounders.

The bell unit is showing the alternating LEDs and I can trigger the strobe on test but not the bell, the bell seemed to eventually stop but could not be turned off from the RKP. I can force an alarm condition but this does not seem to now sound the external bell.

Any suggestions as to the potential issue would be much appreciated?

Sounds knackered

Does it sound when you drop power to it? (remove 12v+)

Also, does it sound if you connect the bell trigger to 0v?

Faulty bell or short between 0v and bell trigger somewhere on the cable which would have caused the bell to run for 15 minutes and silence itself, if the short is still there the bell wouldnt sound anymore
The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!
(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Many thanks for the replies, I will get on and attempt to fix it tomorrow, I have recently also had an electrical fault so I am hoping I haven't inherited some mice, not often that someone hopes for a faulty bell box!

if its the square(ish) one, weve had loats of faulty units, apparentley due to water ingress as the pcb isnt protected by a rubber seal.

havent come across one myself but thats what ive been told by other engineers and my manager.
