After Power Cut, Alarm Sounds When Power Back On

I have a Scantronic wireless system with 500R+ control panel. It was installed in about 2002 when the house was built.

My problem is this - due to a water tank leak my electric cupboard where the electricity control and the Scantronic control unit is house had some water and resulted in a power cut that lasted for a week. Howver since the power has been restored as soon as I switch on the fuse switch that allows the lights to work in the house, the alarm sounds and won't switch off when I punch in the code to the control unit. Someone told me to take the fuse (embedded into the wall in a horizontal tab) out and then turn the electricity fuse back on, but that makes no difference!

Looking at some of the previous Q&As, the separate batter running out might be an issue, but I though taking that horizontal fuse would address that and essentially dis-able the whole alarm system including the alarm speakers???

I am really struggling to speak to any local security firms as it is Saturday and reaching the end of 'Googling' to find a solution....

Can anyone give some step by step advice please??? I would really like to avoid having to extend my home without lights until Tuesday...

thank you!

If you remove the fuse and it happens again there is something wrong with the wiring.

I suggest you get an electrician to check your wiring before you do anything further.

Hmmm... thank you for the idea. The electrician had finished his job and had left 30mins before I posted the question here. He only had to purchase the damaged component and reconnect 4 wires and he was sure that was right....

In this case shall I call another electrician or an alarm specialist? Is there someone who can just look at the problem as a whole and sort it out for me?

hello & welcome

just to clarify are you asking us to tell you how to disable your alarm?

if so see here - http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/comm...p;f=11&id=8

Thanks for your post.

Ideally would like the problem to be solved with the alarm still functional, but if that proves to too much of a problem, I would be happy if the system could just be disarmed as getting some light to the is a higher priority for me. The light fuse switch triggers the alarm to sound, but otherwise, it seem to work as the lights work if that fuse is switched on.

when you with draw the fuse in the isolator for the alarm the lights should come back on and the alarm still dead but if this is not the case you could be at the wrong isolator or it is wired up wrong if it has been added in line to the lighting main (not a good idea to start with ) the supply should loop in and out of the supply side and only the supply to the alarm panel controlled by the fused connections but remember you are looking at 240v here so should only be a suitably qualified person who deals with this side .
