Well, I think I've joined Twitter about four or five times so far, and have yet to understand the point. I don't really see why anyone needs to know that the burger van didn't mash the egg properly again, resulting in an egg coloured shirt. Or worse.

I probably had some grand vision of putting a cart load of customers on twitter with me, and tweeting them the latest news - "upgraded intruder alarm, now only three times the cost you'd expect - after all, this isn't just any intruder alarm.....this is a DFS intruder alarm"

I find facebook and linkedin hard enough to manage without adding to the menagerie that is social networking these days - an excuse to embarrass yourself in front of so many more people you never knew you knew.

Ah well, where did I put my slate and chisel?

That turned up on mine too recently, along with mydisgrace, flikr, and a dump load of other social disease sites.

Think it had to do with app world, or whatever it's called.

I think the point is a quick to the point tid bit to keep in touch with your mates.

As always from what I see it is a way for marketers of all description to advertise their

businesses and products and to build their lists in a way that when they target people

they can do it with the knowlege that has been given to them by the people who use it.

They can then re-direct them to a web site or blog to further the interest of those who give a dam!

If you get people to follow you ..are you always looking over your shoulder?

best twishers

It got destroyed when we went to school eg I was told on a daily, nay hourly, nay
regularly, to shut up, sit up, be quiet and not to talk in class.

Did anybody go to a school where they were taught to converse correctly?

How many people today actually think of what they are going to say before they say
it and do they also concider the grammatical construction and idiums and avoid cliches ? (I think that is French and should have an accent over the e)

Also you can converse with your followers on twitter globaly and simultaneously or all at once if you prefer!

best wishes
Vince

Very few, I should think.

Clichés does indeed have an acute accent over the 'e'. I also suspect that {sic}concider is spelt with an 's'.......

Hmm. So long as you do so in 140 characters or less.

The limit for me was reading in the DT that they've now reduced some of the classics to "tweets" - seriously - Ulyses in 140 characters, Pride and Pejudice, and ore too.

Ah well, beats texting it I suppose.

twiiter - waste of time, its something i wrote years before it came out for a specific job, and even then I though it was stupid.

Its blog comments on their own, without the blog.

Its a example of marketing working.

Guy's, I just got this & thought I best share it with u.

Twitter users warned of new phishing scam
Security experts are warning Twitter users of a new phishing scam that could lead to their accounts being compromised.

The typo-squatting site, which was discovered by Rik Ferguson, senior security advisor at Trend Micro, has been set up by phishers to look like Twitter, although the URL uses only two 't's and replaces the 'w' with 'vv' (h**p://www.tvviter.com) to make it appear authentic.

"Please don't visit this site," wrote Ferguson on Trend Micro's official blog. "It has been designed to harvest credentials, and is currently directing users (through intermediate fake personal web sites and using URL shortening services) to sites hosting euphemistically titled 'Adult Dating Services' by automatically adding followers to the compromised accounts."

Those who are conned into handing over their account details will find new account followers who post links in their profiles redirecting users to adult dating sites.

"These sites make the scammers money in the process through a pay-per-click affiliate scheme," said Ferguson. "The URLs concerned are under ongoing analysis for malicious content. Please do not feel tempted to visit them, even out of curiosity."

Hackers are increasingly turning to Twitter to harvest user credentials. Earlier this month users were warned not to play a 'porn name game' which would publicise details potentially used in account passwords, such as the name of users' first pets.

D`ont bother with it or face book.
MSN or phone calls.

As for friends united if I wanted to keep in touch with certain old school friends I would have. Sod having one pop up out of the blue and wanting to know what has been happening since we left school!
